Jewish Children's Folkshul is moving from the Germantown Friends School to the Springside School campus at 8000 Cherokee St. in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia. Classes and walk-in registration for the 2006-07 school year begins Sunday, Sept. 10, at 9:30 a.m.
?We're delighted with our new facilities at Springside School," said Mindy Blatt, director of education for Folkshul. ?The newly renovated school offers a wonderful environment for learning and will help us to continue to grow our community. Both Folkshul and Springside have had a long presence in the Greater Philadelphia community. We look forward to a long and rewarding relationship as we lease space from Springside."
Prospective students and parents are invited to an information session on Wednesday, Sept. 6, and Thursday, Sept. 7, to learn more about the school's programs and to meet other members of the Folkshul community. For meeting time and location and other information, call Mindy Blatt at 215 248-1550.
The Folkshul for more than 80 years has been a cultural Jewish school for children in grades pre-K through ninth providing a secular, humanist approach to the exploration of Jewish cultural identity, holidays and history. Folkshul also offers free adult education classes including book discussions, Hebrew, Yiddish, history, philosophy and political discussions.
Folkshul has met at Germantown Friends since the early 1970s. Folkshul is a partner agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and an affiliate of the Congress of Secular Jewish Organizations of North America.
